HOLY GRAIL BEAUTY | 2022

Make up has long been one of my favourite things and, although the way I do my make up and the products I use have significantly changed over the years, there's still nothing I love more than sitting down and having a good old play around with my make up. In fact, I've been doing a lot of playing around with it lately, but that got me thinking: why do I not talk about make up on my blog as much any more? Granted, I don't buy as much make up these days, but I use it almost everyday and the last time I wrote about my holy grail make up products was, I believe, in my first year at university - so literally nearly five years ago, now - so I think it's safe to say that this post may be slightly overdue. So, here we are, bringing the beauty content back and starting with the basics: these are the products I literally couldn't live without.

L'Oreal Infallible Mattifying Base primer
I've used this primer for years, and I just keep coming back to it. Yeah, I've tried and tested various other primers over the years (special shout out to the Nars Pore & Shine Control Primer) but there's just something about this one that keeps me coming back. It's generally priced at around £9.99 and I personally think you can't go wrong with it. It keeps my make up on very nicely and it's a good texture, and I've never had any problems with it. It's a forever fave!

L'Oreal Infaillible 24h Fresh Wear foundation
Again, another product I've been using for years. L'Oreal foundation has long been my go to and I've been using this one since probably second year of uni, having used the True Match foundation before then. It's long-lasting, a nice consistency and works really well with my skin. Again, it's a staple in my make up collection and I don't really see myself straying from it any time soon.

Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer
I first purchased the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in New York when I was 18. I'm now 23 and haven't used another concealer since. This is a cult classic and it feels like everyone and their mum uses it, but I understand why - it's the best.

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
Also a cult favourite, I've been using this powder for maybe just over a year - having been reluctant to spend the money on it previously - and I truly haven't looked back. It's quickly become a make up bag staple and I don't think I've ever used a powder that's worked as well as this one does. Highly recommend.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Of course I'm still using my Hoola Bronzer. Honestly, would you expect anything less? I think I started using this bronzer all the way back in 2016 and it's established itself as a firm part of my daily make up routine. If I'm wearing make up, there's no way I'm not wearing Hoola.

Urban Decay Naked2 Basics palette
You guys will know, this palette has been in my make up collection for years. It was a holiday purchase - good old Sephora in Spain - and has been repurchased numerous times. Except, I don't use it for eyeshadow, really. I use the shade 'Primal' for my eyebrows - I've never found an eyebrow product that does what I want it to do or matches as well as this shade. The thought of Urban Decay discontinuing the palette makes me feel very stressed (embarrassingly, maybe) - I only wish they would make the shade as an individual shadow rather than having to buy the whole palette every time I run out.

MAC blush in 'Melba'
Blush used to absolutely terrify me. I think it's something to do with being scared to look like a clown, but over the past year or so, I've really gotten into blush and, like the Hoola bronzer, this blush is used daily - if I'm wearing make up, I will be wearing this blush. It's the perfect shade, and I can see why it's been so popular. I'm obsessed!

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter highlighter in 'Opal'
Now, it's not very often I use highlighter these days - generally it'll be if it's a special occasion or a night out - but, when I do, it's this highlighter. It's the most beautiful shade and you really don't need much product to get the desired shimmer, honestly, it's incredible.

L'Oreal Bambi Oversized Eye Mascara
Mascara is always a hard one for me when writing these posts, because I try so many and there are so many amazing ones on the market. One thing I do know is that L'Oreal never go wrong - I'm pretty convinced that they've never made a bad mascara in their whole existence. It's probably pretty obvious that I tend to go for L'Oreal mascaras - the Paradise Mascara is amazing, and so is their Air Volume Mega Mascara, but I feel like I really need to give their Bambi Oversized Eye Mascara a huge shoutout. I've been using this one since it launched and I'm still impressed with what it does to my lashes, all this time later. Trust me, if you haven't tried it, try it. It's fantastic.

Huda Beauty eyeshadow palettes
Alright, eyeshadow is a hard one. I have so much eyeshadow, and there are so many brands that get eyeshadow right (Anastasia Beverly Hills deserves a mention here), but Huda Beauty comes second to none. I've not got a single bad thing to say about Huda Beauty shadows - they are amazing. My favourite palettes are the Topaz Obsessions, Wild Obsessions Python, and the Amethyst Obsessions. Truly cannot go wrong.

And, if I'm being completely honest, I just can't choose my favourite lip products - I own so many that are amazing. Special shout outs go to the Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi Shine Gloss Lop Lacquer in 'Pretty Thing', Charlotte Tilbury's Collagen Lip Bath in 'Pillow Talk' and, of course, the Glossier Balm Dotcom. Lip liner wise, Mac's 'Subculture' will forever be my go-to.
