CURRENT FAVOURITES | JANUARY - MARCH 2018

Can you believe it's already March? This year is going so quickly (well, when January finally ended) and it's already time to share my first instalment of my current favourites series for the year. Today, it's all about the months of January, February and March - well, up to now, anyway - and there's a lot so we'd better get started.

Kicking off with beauty favourites, as usual, this is probably one of the sections (if you can call them that) with the least amount of products in. However, that doesn't mean they're not as good - in fact, these products are so good that I've barely strayed from using them over the past couple of months.

Firstly, I have been constantly using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in 'Sugar' since I received this as a Christmas present and I quite honestly think I fall in love with it more and more each time I do use it - it's quite intense for a day-to-day basis so I do tend to shy away from it on weekdays but, then again, I tend to shy away from highlighter in general on a daily basis (who has time for a full-on full face of make up?!) but this glow kit has been my go-to for days that I do wear highlighter. I love all four shades but I do tend to lean towards using Marshmallow and Gumdrop most - or I'll mix them all together because, girl, we've got to get our usage - and who doesn't want to glow like a disco ball?

Moving on, I've got this little (big) obsession with lip glosses lately. I don't seem to wear any other form of lip product - it's always a lip gloss. My lip glosses of choice? The Marc Jacobs glosses in the shades 'Skin Deep' and 'Ch-ch-changes'. Again, I received both of these in a gift set at Christmas and haven't looked back since. I occasionally stray from these to use another Marc Jacobs gloss ('Pretty Thing') but these have been my primary lip products for the majority of the past few months and I'm not complaining.

Another revelation is that I've actually managed to find the time to start and paint my nails again lately. For the past couple of years - probably since I was doing my GCSEs - I've barely painted my nails, maybe partly because of laziness but also because it's quite a time consuming habit to get into. But, with that being said, I seem to have found time - or maybe it's motivation, or both - and I've gone and bought myself a new nail polish in celebration, and it's pretty great, if you ask me. It's the L'Oreal (aka best affordable brand in the entire world, sorry not sorry) nail polish in the shade '224 Rose Ballet'. I originally thought this was a little darker on my nails than it looks in the bottle but I actually really like it and it's barely left my nails so I clearly am a fan.

One of my New Years resolutions this year is to read more. Don't hold me to this because it could still all go downhill but it seems to be going quite well so far. I've read a couple of books so far but one that has stood out to me is Public Relations by Katie Heaney and Arianna Rebolini. I finally read this book back in January, after getting it for my birthday back in October, and finished it in a day. I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it - but I'm not going to give any spoilers. Just read it.

Kind of a random favourite but a favourite nonetheless is a phone case. So, I keep my student ID in the back of my phone case when I'm at university for ease of access and, just before Christmas, my lovely phone case from Spain broke - the back of it completely fell out so, obviously, I was in need of a new one. I popped to SkinnyDip in Nottingham and picked up this one. It's so pretty and glittery and I'm in love with it - I feel as though I've found the phone case of my dreams. And, it's a gel case so I don't even need to worry about dropping my phone (or at least not as much as I would with a plastic case).

I've been to the cinema a fair amount lately and, I will tell you, I've been really impressed with some of the films that have come out. The first one has to be Pitch Perfect 3. No, I don't think it was as good as the previous two films in the franchise but it gave me a good laugh and I did enjoy it. Another film that I'm kind of obsessed with is the new Maze Runner film - The Death Cure. I went to see this at the cinema with one of my uni friends and it was incredible. And, finally, a film that is way passed obsessed on the obsession scale - The Greatest Showman. Come on, you must've expected this one. It's quite possibly one of the best films of all time and I'm in love with it - so much so that the soundtrack has been pretty much on repeat. Oops?

Ahh, TV favourites. I actually only have one for this instalment. I've watched a lot of series' lately and they've been good but none have stood out to me apart from two - the first being Dynasty. It's a Netflix original and it's kind of addictive - as in, I finished it in two nights. If you haven't guessed, I would obviously recommend it. Another series I finished in a ridiculously short amount of time (one day) is The Bold Type. It's about journalists (I'm studying journalism at university so that gave me an instant interest) and female empowerment and it was incredible. I'm unbelievably excited for season two - I feel so invested in the characters and their lives - although, it did make me want to go back to New York.

Music favourites! If you've been reading my blog lately, you'll probably have seen that each month I've been sharing my playlist for that month so, if you want to see what I'm listening to frequently go ahead and check those out. If not, I have a couple of artists that I've really enjoyed listening to lately. The first is a band called Coasts - they supported The Hunna on their tour back in January and I've not really stopped listening to them since. I've also been listening to a lot of Madison Beer recently. I have tickets to her tour at the end of this month with Meg and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I have a fashion favourite for once. You may realise that I'm really into Vans and they are pretty much the only footwear I wear these days. So, the Vans x Karl Lagerfeld collaboration has been catching my eye for a fair while now. I kept putting it off and thought 'Jodie, you do not need any more shoes' but, unfortunately, I couldn't help myself and ended up buying the slip on Vans from the collection. I'm not disappointed with the shoes. I'm not even disappointed in myself for caving and buying the shoes. I'm the opposite - I'm very much happy with my purchase and the shoes are great - I can see them becoming a real staple in my wardrobe.

I'm really going all out in this favourites post - I told you there'd be a lot. I even have a food favourite. You may have seen that I recently posted a blog post all about a day in my life at university and, in that post, I talked about a particular meal that I've been cooking a lot lately. It's kind of a salmon traybake with tomatoes and potatoes and it's so delicious so it's most definitely a favourite of mine.

And, on that note, I'm pretty sure that that is all of the things I've been loving lately - but let's face it: I've probably missed something. Either way, it's been a good couple of months for successful product usage (I don't even know what I mean) and I've had a great couple of months on the whole so I hope you have too, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your week and I shall be back very soon with some new and exciting posts!
