A DAY IN MY LIFE: UNIVERSITY EDITION

University life - we all have an idea of what it's like, right? Well, we all have an idea of the stereotypical student's life. You know, the binge drinking one - that never goes to lectures and is super messy, blah blah blah. Yeah, that's not really me. I think these day in my life posts and YouTube videos are so interesting and, being as my daily routine has changed a fair bit since the last time I did any form of this post and being at university, I thought I'd share my typical daily routine with my lovely blog readers - for reference, this particular day was a Tuesday and I was in university on this day. So, without further ado, this is an insight into what I tend to get up to on a typical (week) day.

7am

Okay, so I have a very big issue with getting up in the mornings. I just cannot seem to do it. The only solution? Multiple alarms. So I have one alarm that goes off at 7am, one goes off at 7:15 and then 7:30, 7:45 and 8am.

8:15am

After a few minutes of trying to wake myself up, it's time to properly get up and out of bed to brush my teeth and shower - actually one of my favourite parts of my morning. I know that a lot of people like to shower the night before but that's just not really me - I find that showering in the morning really wakes me up (as much as it can) and makes me feel one hundred times fresher.

8:30am

By this time, I'm done in the shower so I tend to hop back into bed for five minutes or so to give my hair chance to slightly towel dry itself and to warm myself up again after getting out of the shower. I then get dress and hairdry the rest of my hair.

8:50am

At this point, my hair is (mostly) dry and I'm dressed so I pop down into the kitchen to grab some breakfast - most days I go for just plain simple cereal, depending on which I have left out of my lil variety packs that I buy (can't be tied down to just one cereal type, obviously!). I take this back to my room and eat it while I do my make up - again, I have to multitask because I'm so bad at getting ready on time in the morning.

9:15am (ish)

Now that I've managed to get (some form of) my face on, I'll head back down to the kitchen and get my washing up and tidying done - it's worth noting that it's increasingly common that I don't manage to do this step until I get back from university because I'm often running late. BUT, luckily, this day was a good day and I did manage to do it - yay for progress!

9:30am

It's 9:30 and time to head out to meet my pals before uni so I'll pop my shoes and jacket on (obviously) and walk down to our usual meeting place - they don't live on campus like I do and do commute so I tend to walk down to meet them at the tube station which, conveniently, is just down the path from my flat so it's super easy. We then head up into the uni building itself.

10am

Not much to say for this one other than, on most days, but definitely on Tuesdays, I start uni at 10am so this is when my workshop begins - today was an special(?) workshop in that we had an assessment. How exciting!

1pm

1pm and my workshop is officially done and I'm done for the day at uni. My friends and I usually end up chatting for a while after the workshop ends, however, so it's not exactly time to go back to my flat just yet.

2pm

An hour later and I'm finally heading back to my flat - this is what I mean when I say we end up chatting for a while. It's becoming a real problem that we literally don't have any sense of time and don't realise how long we're chatting for - it would make more sense for them to just come to my flat and for us to chat there in the warmth but oops, what can you do?!

2:15pm

I tend to switch the oven on as I come past the kitchen upon arrival back into my flat but it's not until around 2:15 that I actually go back into the kitchen and start cooking my lunch. I tend to have my main meal at lunch time and mostly I eat between 2 and 3 so it's pretty much a late lunch / (super) early dinner but it works well for me. Today, I made a salmon one-pot / traybake dish which is really super easy to make. It takes like 5 minutes to prepare and 45 minutes in total to cook - I used this recipe from the Good Housekeeping website as a basic guideline when I first made it but now I've kind of got my own recipe and timings for it because I do sometimes adjust what ingredients I put in and so on.

3pm (ish - maybe just after)

My food is ready and, usually, I would take my food back into my room to eat but, as it is fish, I chose not to and ended up sitting in the kitchen to eat. After I've finished eating, I'll do my washing up and (again) tidy up any mess that I've made, and then head back into my room.

3:30 (ish)

By now, it's around half past three and so it's time to chill - or catch up on some work if necessary. As I've had an assessment today, I don't have any work to do so I'm using the time to write some blog posts and also catch up with some TV shows - today, the choice is How To Get Away With Murder.

6pm

Most of the time, I don't eat an evening meal and tend to just have a small snack so today I've had a piece of caramel shortbread that my Mum made - it's incredible and I love it. So that's my evening food sorted, I also popped to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea and then it's back to my room. I then read the most recent issue of Vogue and listened to some music for a bit.

8:40pm

Okay, at this point, I'm finally getting ready to take my make up off so I just do my typical daily skincare routine (I'll get round to posting an updated skincare routine at some point) and get my pyjamas on and chill.

9pm

So now it's time for me to kind of settle down and watch something - I had been watching Celebrity Big Brother so that's been my go-to but I've also been watching Gilmore Girls on Netflix also.

11pm

When it gets to around 11pm, I usually try and get myself to sleep - purely because I have to be up the next morning. Obviously, if I don't have to be up early the next day then there's no particular time that I properly go to bed - I find myself scrolling on my phone for hours and hours, or watching YouTube videos until who knows when.

Alrighty, so that is my typical daily routine for a day that I've been in uni - this obviously does change sometimes and isn't set in stone but generally this is what I tend to get up to, very exciting, I know. I hope this lil insight was kind of interesting in some way - thanks for reading! Xo
