♡ 2016 FAVOURITES ♡

I cannot believe that we are just a couple of weeks away from 2017. This year has gone so incredibly fast and it feels like only yesterday that I was sat at my desk writing my 2015 favourites post. Keeping up with tradition, this is my 2016 favourites post - full of all the lovely things I've been enjoying over the course of the year.

Beauty
Of course, I couldn't write this post without telling you all about my favourite beauty products of the year first - after all, it has quickly become my favourite category of favourites.

For eye shadow, I'm honestly going to have to say the Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons palette is my number one for 2016 - while it may not have been released in 2016, I did receive it for my birthday in 2016 and I genuinely can't remember the last time I reached for one product as much as I do this one. It's by far my favourite eyeshadow palette and the quality is incredible - I one hundred percent recommend it and cannot thank my friends enough for getting it me.

The Kat Von D Bow N Arrow everlasting liquid lipstick is another favourite of mine for the year. Having picked up this product in New York, I wasn't sure if I would like it but I was pleasantly surprised. It's slowly become a staple in my make up collection and it's another product that I've constantly been reaching for.

Sticking with lips, the Poppin' gloss by Kylie Cosmetics has also been a favourite of mine during the year. I've never really been one for lip glosses but I genuinely think that Kylie's glosses have been a force for change because I am constantly reaching for glosses in my make up collection nowadays. The Poppin' gloss was part of her Birthday Edition collection so it was limited edition but I just had to include it in this gloss as I am a changed woman - all because of this one gloss.

I feel like 2016, for me, was the year of the highlighter. I've invested in so many highlighters this year - having only got my first highlighter (MAC's Soft and Gentle) last Christmas. A standout for me this year has got to be the Kathleen Lights highlighter palette by Make Up Geek. I'd never tried any MUG products before this, and Kathleen is one of my favourite YouTubers so I felt obliged to purchase this palette (but it's not like I mind) and I haven't looked back since. It's, once again, become a staple in my make up collection and I just keep going back to it, every time I get a new highlighter.

FASHION
I'm afraid this is the most boring category from this post - I only have one fashion favourite from 2016 because, while I have done a lot of online shopping and purchased plenty of fashion products, there was only one fashion item that stood out for me.

It is this coat that I purchased in New York from Forever 21. It's a lovely dark blue, blazer (?) style coat and it's so incredibly comfortable and warm that it's been a staple in my wardrobe ever since I purchased it. Basically, I'm in love with it so it just had to make an appearance in this post.

MOVIES AND TV
I don't think I talk about movies and television much on my blog (though I do hope to do more of that in the New Year) but there are a few movies and TV shows that I have really enjoyed watching this year.

For TV faves, The People V. OJ Simpson was incredible. It aired at the beginning of the year and I was HOOKED. I couldn't stop watching it. I've always found that kind of documentary / crime drama interesting and this was no exception. When I was thinking about what I wanted to put in this post, The People V OJ Simpson was one of the things that instantly popped into my head. I genuinely really enjoyed it.

Awkward was another favourite of mine for this year. I know that it technically didn't (fully) air in 2016 but I did binge watch it in 2016 and I honestly have no regrets. I watched the entire thing in a week and I loved it. It was definitely one of those shows that I didn't want to end, and could re-watch over and over again (just like Gossip Girl).

Allegiant is by far my favourite movie release of the year. The Divergent movies are my favourite (I prefer them to The Hunger Games movies) and I'm obsessed with Theo James so it's an all round great experience when I watch them. But in all honesty, they are incredible films - and Allegiant definitely did not disappoint.

The Edge of Seventeen is also a favourite of mine. I know it was only recently released but it's SO. DAMN. RELATABLE. I absolutely loved it and I one hundred percent recommend that anyone who hasn't seen it yet goes to see it. In fact, even if you have already seen it, go again.

MUSIC AND TOURS
Yay - another one of my favourite categories from this post. As you may know (especially if you follow me on any of my social media accounts), going to concerts is pretty much my favourite thing to do. Ever. And, because of this, I found it extremely hard to pick my favourite tours of the year - so I've narrowed it down to three.

The first of which (and I would probably say that this is my top, number one, ultimate favourite tour of the year) is Justin Bieber's Purpose Tour. I have an entire gig review of the show here, if you're interested in reading that but, in a nutshell, it was the best night of my life. No joke. I absolutely loved it. I wish I could re-live the night because I had that much fun.

Coldplay's A Head Full Of Dreams Tour was incredible. I never thought that I would have been able to go to a Coldplay concert and to experience that with my Mum (aka Coldplay's biggest fan) was lovely. Their show was so amazing - it blew me away and I don't know how to put into words how good it was. If you ever, ever, ever get the chance to see Coldplay live, DO IT. Just do it.

Of course, my lovelies, The Vamps, had to make an appearance in this post - their Wake Up tour was also one of my favourite tours of the year and I am absolutely buzzing for their next tour. Please, can April and May hurry up? They always put on an amazing show and this year was exactly that. Amazing.

For albums my standouts are Bastille's Wild World, DNCE by DNCE, The Hunna's 100 and Fifth Harmony's 7/27. Each one of these albums are albums that I can listen to whenever and wherever - they're all super great. I would probably lean towards DNCE's album being my favourite because there are so many BOPS on there but, then again, there is on all of those albums.

And that, my friends, concludes my 2016 Favourites post - you can read last year's post here but thank you so much for reading this post, and please do keep an eye out for my next post - I'll give you a hint: festive make up. ☺
