♡ The Edge Of Seventeen | Mini Movie Review ♡

If you've been on YouTube or any kind of social media over the past few weeks, I'm sure you'll have heard of the movie 'The Edge Of Seventeen'. I had seen the movie being constantly advertised on YouTube, Twitter, Facebook - even Spotify and I was really interested in going to see it at the cinema, so I did. On Tuesday evening, myself and my BFF went to our local Odeon and watched the movie. And here I am, giving you a super quick review of the movie - which, I believe is actually my first movie review on my blog (so it probably won't be super detailed).

It stars Hailee Steinfeld (you would know her from Pitch Perfect 2 and she recently released a collaboration with Zedd) as the main character in the movie, Haley Lu Richardson, Hayden Szeto, Blake Jenner, Woody Harrelson and Kyra Sedgwick.

This is the film synopsis:

'Nadine (Hailee Steinfeld) and Krista (Hayley Lu Richardson) are inseparable best friends attempting to navigate high school together...until Nadine discovers her older brother and Krista have been secretly dating behind her back. They soon realize that there is a fine line between best friends and worst enemies. The cast of the film is rounded out with Kyra Sedgwick, who plays Nadine's well-meaning but completely ineffective mother, and Woody Harrelson, who plays Mr. Bruner, Nadine's English teacher and mentor, who is uncannily wise in the ways of girl-clashes.'

The movie follows Nadine through all of the troubles, twists and turns in her roller coaster of a life and the film's main themes, I would say, are friendship, romance, drama and general teenager problems. I definitely think the film hit home with some of its focal points and the issues raised in it. Without providing spoilers, I think that the film is quite true to life in the sense that teenagers (particularly girls) do go through these issues and struggles during their teenage years and yes, it can be hard being a teenager and I do think that the film did really well in the casting department. Hailee Steinfeld's performance is so incredibly good throughout, as well as the rest of the cast also.

I really don't want to spoil the movie for anyone who hasn't seen it yet but I do want to say that I would one hundred percent recommend going to watch it if you haven't done so already. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I honestly don't think there has been a film like it in such a long time (I think I would say that LOL was the last film remotely similar, maybe) - I feel like there was a huge gap in the market for a teen-based movie, and I do think that The Edge Of Seventeen is right there filling that gap. I would definitely put this movie right up there in my top movie releases of the year and it's left me desperately wanting to go and see it again. So please, if you have time, please go and watch it at the cinema because I can almost one hundred percent guarantee that you won't be disappointed.

I hope you enjoyed this little mini movie review on my blog, I am so sorry if this little review is a bit all over the place. I am hoping to be able to do more film reviews on my blog in the future so, hopefully, they do improve! Also, keep an eye out on my blog for some extra mid-week posts over the Christmas break, because I do feel like I've neglected my blog over the past couple of weeks (blame mock exams and revision for that one) so I really want to make the most of the time I have off school and make my blog a priority during that time.

PS - if you want a cheaper option, keep an eye out for two for one cinema deals and split the cost with your friend. I know Odeon do 2 for 1 cinema tickets with Compare the Market on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and they did used to do Orange Wednesday (though I'm not sure if that's still a thing), but two for one deals are a great way to experience the cinema on a budget.
