A TASTE OF... NOTTINGHAM | EDITION ONE

If you know me, you'll know that I love food. My life kind of revolves around it (aside from the fact that it's an integral part of actually, you know, living) - most of my social life activities includes food. I love to cook (you'll see some cooking content on my blog in the near future, too) but I really love the experience of going out for food. However, deciding where to eat can sometimes be a little overwhelming, especially in cities that aren't your own. In this series, I'm sharing my top picks for food in various cities. From brunch to lunch, dinner to dessert - I've got recommendations for it all. In this blog post, the first instalment of this series, I'm starting close to home, with some Nottingham recommendations.

Das Kino

'Pizza, ping pong and good times' is their slogan, and that's exactly what Das Kino is. Serving some of the best pizza in Nottingham, Das Kino is definitely worth a visit - their menu also features strips and wings (catch their all you can eat chicken wings offer every Sunday between 2pm and 9pm), tater tots, loaded fries and plenty of snacks and sides.

If you're of legal drinking age, Das Kino's cocktail range is fantastic too - I think their Margarita is one of the best I've ever had, so definitely order one - or three.

Find it at: 22 Fletcher Gate, Nottingham, NG1 2FZ

Nearest parking is NCP Nottingham Stoney Street car park

Tamatanga

Tamatanga is technically a chain restaurant, but there are only three in the UK (Nottingham, Leicester and Birmingham) so it's not a restaurant that you'll find everywhere - unfortunately. It's Indian food and it's to die for. I've been a few times and have not been disappointed - literally everything I've tried has been delicious. My recommendations would be the chicken wrap, chicken tikka masala (pictured) and, if there's a couple of you, the Tama feast is definitely worth trying (I personally think it's too big for one person but that's just me). They offer two for one cocktails before 7pm everyday, so if you're a drinker, definitely take advantage of that offer - my favourite cocktail from their menu is the 'too cool for school' - gin, fresh lime,  cucumber, coriander and lemonade.

Find it at: The Cornerhouse, Trinity Square, Nottingham, NG1 4DB

Nearest parking is Trinity Square car park

Wildwood

Now, Wildwood is a full on chain restaurant - but, in my experience, not that many people have actually heard of it so I think it's safe to say that it's massively underrated. The menu is pizza, pasta and grills and it's definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for tasty Italian/Mediterranean cuisine. Their mozzarella garlic bread is to die for (it's the caramelised onions that really do it for me), and they have a really great selection of mains - my top picks are probably the oven baked chicken and mushroom penne (pictured) and sausage, pepperoni and chicken calzone. Also offering a solid dessert menu, I would recommend the tiramisu and the sticky toffee pudding. I can't say I've ever been drinking during a trip to Wildwood but I can vouch for their mocktails - the tropical fruit cooler is a favourite of mine.

Find it at: 18 King Street, Nottingham, NG1 2AS

Nearest parking is Upper Parliament Street car park, or Trinity Square car park

Lakeside

If you're looking to get away from the city centre, Lakeside is a great option. Originally known as the Bestwood Pumping Station, Lakeside is also a wedding venue and it's a beautiful setting with really delicious food. I first visited back in November with my Mum - I ordered the chicken burger (pictured) and she ordered one of the brunch dishes. Since that first visit, the menu has changed significantly - it's now all about world tapas, inspired by some of the finest cuisines all around the globe. Lakeside is definitely worth a visit if you find yourself in Nottingham - or just outside of it.

Find it at: Mansfield Road, Nottingham, NG5 8PH

Parking is available on site.

Got a trip to Nottingham planned soon? Let me know if you end up visiting any of these restaurants - and keep an eye out for upcoming posts in this series, where I'll be sharing more recommendations for Nottingham and other UK cities.
