THESE ARE ALL MY FAVOURITE THINGS (FROM 2018)

Hey lovelies! As I'm sure you may know if you've read my blog in any fashion, at any point - favourites posts used to be quite a big thing on my blog. In the early days, especially, I wrote a monthly favourites post literally every month. Then, a couple of years ago, I took it down to once every three months - so there were four instalments per year. This year, I haven't written a favourites post since June. Not because I didn't want to, but more so that I felt my favourites weren't really changing and so, aside from music favourites, was there any point in even writing such consistent favourites posts? I decided that the answer was no and - don't get me wrong, I might end up bringing them back - it was a good decision for me. Either way, I'm here with a bit of a round up of all of my favourites from the year. This is a non-exhaustive list, and I'm not going into too much detail because, let's face it; we'd be here forever. But, these are my top picks from 2018 - enjoy!

Music: quite honestly the hardest category to compose in this post. 2018 gave us so many incredible albums and I found it so difficult to kind of pick my favourites of the year, so here are my favourite albums of the year - even though this list is most definitely not condensed.

  • The Wombats - Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life
  • The Neighbourhood - The Neighbourhood
  • Blossoms - Cool Like You
  • Charlie Puth - Voicenotes
  • Shawn Mendes - Shawn Mendes
  • 5 Seconds of Summer - Youngblood
  • Tom Grennan - Lighting Matches
  • Years & Years - Palo Santo
  • Florence + The Machine - High As Hope
  • The Vamps - Night And Day (Day edition)
  • Pale Waves - My Mind Makes Noises
  • LANY - Malibu Nights
  • Olly Murs - You Know I Know
  • Muse - Simulation Theory
  • The Kooks - Let's Go Sunshine
  • Take That - Odyssey

TV and Film: This is going to be yet another hard one, purely because I've watched that many shows and movies that it's going to be difficult just to remember them but here goes.

  • The Sinner
  • You
  • Gilmore Girls
  • The Bold Type
  • Elite
  • The Hate U Give
  • Crazy Rich Asians
  • Lady Bird
  • Life Of The Party
  • Love, Simon
  • Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
  • A Simple Favour

Books: Not as difficult as any other category. I didn't read that many books this year - besides academic books - but there were a couple that stood out to me.

  • Match Made in Manhattan by Amanda Stauffer
  • Playing With Matches by Hannah Orenstein

Beauty: Surprisingly, I don't have many beauty favourites from the year. I seemed to have managed to curb my spending when it comes to make up in particular and I am so very proud of myself for that, however, you already knew I'd have at least a couple of beauty favourites.

  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam palette
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina palette
  • Marc Jacobs Daisy Love perfume
  • Any Bath and Body Works shower gel (I'm obsessed)

Fashion: I feel like 2018 was the year that I really began to kind of get out of my comfort zone with fashion - not necessarily in a crazy way, but more so that I didn't really care to think about what other people thought about what I was wearing. My motto became 'if I think it looks good, and I like it, then I'm wearing it' and I'm so incredibly happy about that. I think there's still a fair bit to go but I'm getting more into fashion, and loving it.

  • Anything with stripes - striped shirts, striped jumpers, UGH striped trousers (they're my fave)
  • Checked trousers (another fave)
  • Mom jeans
  • Leopard print (in moderation)
  • Teddy coats
  • Vans - just like every other year

Travel: So, if you read my 2018 round up post, you'll know that I went to LA and Rome this year and, obviously, they have to be in my favourites but I actually really enjoyed visiting places around the UK this year too. Can we have travel in general as my favourite?

Personal: Now for the soppy bit. I'm joking, I'm not going to be soppy.

  • My summer job. I know working at a law firm for the entire summer sounds boring, but I had the best time and made some of the loveliest friends so it was a big success for me.
  • Gigs! So many gigs - my top ones were probably The Vamps (obviously), Imagine Dragons, Coasts, 5 Seconds of Summer and All Points East was a banging festival back in June.
  • Summer. Honestly the best summer of my life - I made so many memories with my best friends and I had the most amazing time so that was an all-round winner for me.
  • Now for a slightly strange (or not so strange) one - paper straws. I learnt a lot about plastic pollution and the environment throughout the year and I've really tried to change my lifestyle to help make a change in the world. That sounds so cringey but, quite honestly, it really is as simple as switching for alternatives - paper straws, reusable bottles etc. and I'm really proud of that.
  • FRIENDS. Basically all of my friends. I love them.

So that was a brief recap of all of my favourite things from 2018. And now we have that out of the way, we can really try and get going with 2019. I had a super fun time looking back on the year and compiling this post so I hope you enjoyed seeing what I was loving through the year! See you soon.
