2017 FAVOURITES

I cannot believe that I'm sat here writing this post already. It seems like yesterday that I was sat writing last year's annual favourites round-up - this year has gone incredibly fast and it's been a rollercoaster year. I honestly wouldn't want to end it any other way that to share my annual favourites and round-up posts on my blog. Today, it's my 2017 favourites, next week, it's my round-up (which is a more personal look back on the year) so I hope you enjoy. PS - I apologise for the images used in this post - I'm really struggling with the murky Winter lighting!

As usual, I'm going to start with beauty favourites and, let me just say, this year has been an incredible year for me discovering beauty products. I have two stand-out brands for this year, the first of which is my all time favourite drugstore brand: L'Oreal. I always rave about L'Oreal products and it's hard to believe that it was only this year that I discovered my actual favourite foundation ever - L'Oreal's True Match. I am absolutely in love with this foundation, no matter which other foundation I use, they haven't compared in any way to this one - the coverage is great and the finish is lovely and it's only £9.99 - it's perfect! Another favourite from L'Oreal is their Paradise mascara. Now, you may already know that this is my favourite mascara if you read my review back in July. I previously used the Seventeen Falsifeye mascara and the Maybelline The Falsies Push Up Angel mascara but I haven't touched any other mascara since using this one - it's truly life changing.

My second stand out brand is Anastasia Beverly Hills. I have well and truly fallen in love with this brand over the course of this year - so much, in fact, that I would consider it to be my all time favourite make up brand (in general, not just high-end). I have three top picks from the brand this year: the Modern Renaissance palette - everyone needs this palette in their life, I'm not even joking, the Pure Hollywood liquid lipstick - aka my favourite liquid lipstick ever and the So Hollywood illuminator - the most beautiful gold highlight in the history of the land.

Moving on to fashion favourites for the year, I actually only have two. The first of which are a pair of shoes - my Old Skool Vans. I purchased these back in September and they honestly have barely left my feet since. They are the most perfect shoes in the world; they're easy to dress up and down, and they're incredibly comfortable so, again, it's an all around winner for me. My next fashion favourite is my Mom jeans. This is a kind of symbolic purchase for me, having always taken the 'skinny jeans or no jeans' attitude - I'm really trying to step out of my comfort zone in terms of fashion and this was just one step in doing so - it was a very successful one and I'm really loving my Mom jeans.

Moving on to book favourites from the year. The first book I absolutely loved, and was really invested in, is Little Black Dresses, Little White Lies by Laura Stampler. I read this when I was on holiday in Spain back in September and finished it in a day - I could not put it down. It was a really enjoyable book and I would recommend it to anyone. The next two books are both by Sara Shepard (aka my favourite author ever) and are The Amateurs and Follow Me from The Amateurs series (shocking, I know). I actually reviewed both of these books on my blog and, as you can tell, I really enjoyed them - I was hooked, and couldn't put them down but that's not surprising with Sara's writing.

Next up is music favourites and there's a lot of them - 2017 really was a great year for new music. I've, somehow, managed to cut my favourites down to seven of my top albums of the year but, let me tell you, it was a tough decision - there are so many other albums that I loved from the year. The first of my favourites will come as no surprise to anyone who has previously read my blog or follows me on any social media - The Vamps' Night & Day album; a true masterpiece, end of. Other stand out albums for me this year were Youth Is Only Ever Fun In Retrospect by Sundara Karma, Only When We're Naked by Zak Abel, Demi Lovato's Tell Me You Love Me, Imagine Dragons' Evolve, Dua Lipa's self titled album and, last but not least, Taylor Swift's Reputation.

I have four favourite TV shows from the year. The first of which is Riverdale (I'm sure this will be in a lot of people's favourites). I also loved Designated Survivor, Jane The Virgin and Famous In Love. I would definitely, without giving any spoilers, recommend all of these shows - trust me, you'll be hooked.

Finally, I have one technology favourite - my MacBook. This year, I was lucky enough to get a MacBook and, honestly, I haven't looked back since. It's made my life one hundred times easier in terms of work (both at sixth form, and now university) and also blogging. I love it!

And there we have it: my 2017 favourites. Keep an eye out on my blog because I am going to be posting my annual yearly round-up post within the next few days - it's all about my personal memories of the year, events and achievements and so on so do look out for that. Thank you so much for reading my blog and I shall see you very soon with a new post.
