LET'S CHAT: LIFE UPDATE

Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog. Today, I'm stripping back to the basics and sharing a bit of a life update with you all.

Firstly, I want to mention that this summer has been one of the best of my life and I am so content and incredibly lucky to have been able to do the amount of amazing things I did over the summer - I mean, two holidays, V festival, visiting a ton of my favourite cities etc etc. - that's not a typical summer. Obviously, I can put the majority of that down to having had a job with a pretty good wage which has enabled me to do such things. Either way, I've had so many great experiences over the past few months and it is definitely a summer I will never forget.

Regarding jobs, I am now unemployed. Sad times, I know. I left my lil part time job at Wilko at the end of August after almost two years of working there and, no matter how much I complained about it and said how much I hated it, my last day was actually quite sad for me. Not because I'll miss the job because I won't, but because there's a lil Wilko family there and the people who I've worked with for almost two years are some of the loveliest people I've ever met and I will miss them and our weekly chats. It was a great experience working at Wilko and, again, one that I will always remember - it being my first job and all. I gained a lot of knowledge and experience throughout the time that I was there and my confidence actually grew a lot which is something I'll always be grateful for.

Education wise, if you've seen some of my previous posts, you'll probably know that I finished sixth form this year and completed my A Levels. In regards to my A Level results, I was fairly happy with them, though I do think I could've done better in English, especially when I compare my real results to those I got in mocks or lessons. So overall I got ABC as my results. The A was in Photography which I was (and still am) over the moon with. I put so much effort into my photography work over the course of the year and, despite having some minor disasters with my coursework in particular, it obviously paid off and allowed me to get my first ever real A grade - yay! The B grade was from Sociology, which I was shocked about. You have no idea how badly I thought those exams had gone - it was awful. I had nose bleeds in the exams, I didn't know what half of the questions were asking me to do and I genuinely thought I'd failed the subject but no, I actually did quite well in it which I am very proud of. The C, however, was in English. Obviously a C grade is still very good but I do feel that I maybe could've done a little better. A little story for you: originally, when I picked up my results on results day, I got a D in English. I was actually shocked, having never got a D grade in my life but we did decide to send my paper one paper off for a remark as it seemed to be an issue across the board (nobody in my year group had done well on paper one) and, thankfully, my marks went up by 11 marks, bringing my grade up to a solid C grade. I am so much happier with that result but it does make me wonder what's been going on with the marking system and examiners? How can someone's result go up by 11 marks just by someone different marking it? I've heard of 2 or three marks, but 11? There's got to be an issue somewhere.

Obviously, I've finished sixth form and have now left compulsory education but I am going to university (in fact, I'll be at university when this post goes up). I will be studying journalism at the University of Westminster and I am so excited. Journalism has been a major interest of mine since probably around year 7, I've read newspapers and magazines for as long as I can remember and I've always loved it. One memory that really stands out to me is in around year 5 so probably around age 10, myself and my friend Becky made our own magazine. We sat for hours cutting photos out and printing things off to stick in this magazine (I think we called it 'Girl' or something like that) and we loved it. We took it with us whenever we saw each other and it was great. We put Rihanna on the cover and it was, to us, the best thing ever. To finally be studying a subject that is of so much interest to me is insane and I am so excited for the future. I am also thrilled to have gotten into my first choice university. Westminster was always going to be my first choice, ever since I went to the open day almost two years ago. It just felt right and no other open day could compare. I went to other universities for open days and events and all I did was think 'it's nice but it's not Westminster' and my Mum felt the same so this really is a dream come true and, again, I'm super excited to start my university journey and I will try to keep you all updated.

So big changes are coming. Big, exciting changes. I'm 19 in a week (the 5th) and I'm settling into my new life in London (how exciting!!). Obviously, I'm going to be keeping up with my blog - there is absolutely no way that I would ever stop blogging. It's my favourite thing and it will continue to be a priority in my life, no matter what. Thank you so much to everyone who's ever read my blog (whether you read it regularly or just as a one off), I really appreciate the support. See you next time.
