BIRTHDAY BITS & BOBS

Hey friends! Again, (kinda) long time no see (I'm sorry!), but I'm back and ready for some regular blogging... and what better way than with a bit of a birthday post?

Back in the day, I would share a 'what I got for my birthday' or birthday outfit post but, as I've gotten older (I mean, I'm 23 now - that's scary), that's not really my style anymore. For one, I don't ask for anything for my birthday anymore - as I've got a full time job, if there's something I want, I'll fund it myself - and the things I tend to get as gifts are more sentimental, personal and/or inside jokes, and probably aren't that exciting for the internet to see. I also don't really fancy 'bragging' (or at least seemingly bragging) about receiving gifts on my blog. And, as for the outfits, you'll get the photos anyway in this post, which I guess is a bit of a photo diary/round up of the things I did for my birthday celebrations and a good way to document it. Again, the older I get, the more I want to make sure I have records of things - whether that's a physical photo album or lots of photos on my phone or just a blog post keeping it all together, I like to know that it's not going to just get lost, and the memories will - in some way - be there to look back on in the future.

Anyway, babbling over... here is my 23rd birthday photo diary.

Part one: London

The first part of my birthday celebrations were more family orientated. My birthday was on the inconvenient day of a Tuesday (I say inconvenient but, realistically, being in the middle of the week meant I could reasonably extend the celebrations to the entire week with no judgement so I guess it's not so inconvenient after all), so my Mum and I went to London on the Sunday for four days, returning home on Wednesday for a trip of eating, drinking and just having a fun time.

My brother has recently moved to London for his job so we made a point of meeting with him on the Sunday - we took him to The Shard and for dinner and it was a really lovely day (I wouldn't normally admit it but I actually miss him a lot). The Monday consisted of more food, more drink (my Mum and I are both big cocktail fans!) and a trip to see & Juliet at the theatre - there's a review coming to the blog very soon so do keep an eye out! Tuesday was my actual birthday so we went for a bit of a boozy brunch at Peggy Porschen in Chelsea and then to Dior at Alto at Selfridges for some delicious Italian food in the evening. Wednesday was much more relaxed, with the morning spent in Hampstead and a lovely pub lunch at the Spaniards Inn (honestly, if you're around Hampstead, please go to this pub - incredible food and their Sunday roast also deserves a shout out).

Part two: Leeds

The second part of the celebrations was all about my friends. I dragged them all up to Leeds for the weekend and, to be honest, it was a slight disaster. I ended up with tonsillitis (and I still feel like I'm on death's door with it, I can't lie) and basically only made it to the dinner and was in bed in the hotel at 10pm - tragic! I have to say, I didn't expect the weekend to consist of not being able to swallow, multiple cries and an early night but my friends still made it the best it could've been. I know I've said it many times on my blog but I truly don't know what I'd do without those guys - my life would be significantly shitter without those amazing people in my life and I'm so grateful to call them my best friends. And I'm sorry that my cursed self came down ill on the weekend we'd been looking forward to for so long... but oh well, there's always a next time!

More blog posts coming soon so do keep an eye out!
