JASON DERULO | GIG REVIEW

As per usual, if you follow me on Instagram, you'll possibly know that - back at the end of September - I attended Jason Derulo's 2Sides World Tour at Wembley Arena. And, I know what you're thinking: 'Jodie, this was almost a month ago' - and you're right. This blog post is quite obviously very much overdue, but I haven't done a gig review on my blog for a while and, quite frankly, gig reviews are one of my favourite posts to write - hence why I'm still going ahead with this post.

Anyway, Jason Derulo announced this tour back in August 2017 - at V Festival, actually - and, although my friends and I aren't massive number one fans of his, you can't deny that he has some bops. And by 'some', I mean all of his songs are absolute bangers and, to be completely honest, his earlier music was kind of the soundtrack to my late-primary school / early-secondary school years so, obviously, when he announced that he was going on tour, we kind of jumped at the chance to go. Originally scheduled for March of this year, Jason Derulo did in fact postpone the tour because his 'album wasn't finished' and - you'll potentially already know if you're into his music - he actually didn't release an album before the rescheduled dates, either. It was more of a 'greatest hits' with a few new songs thrown in kinda shindig.

Unexpectedly, the show was a show. It wasn't the kind of gig that's super chilled and the focus is simply the music. With Jason Derulo, as you would expect, there's singing (obviously), dancing, pyrotechnics and generally a lot going on. It is the definition of a show - and it's great. Jason Derulo, as a performer, is undoubtedly one of the most talented men in the business - and, to be honest, it's kind of clear that he knows that. His, let's call him a hype-man was constantly talking about how Jason Derulo is the new 'king of pop, straight from Miami, Florida' blah blah blah. It's all fun and games but they make no secret of the fact that he knows the level of his talent and platform.

Set List:

  • Whatcha Say
  • Tip Toe
  • Don't Wanna Go Home
  • Wiggle

All in all, it was a great night and - say what you want about Jason Derulo, but one thing's for sure: he is a performer. His show was exciting and all around good fun. You don't have to be a 'fan' to have a great time at a Jason Derulo gig - so if you get the opportunity to see him live, take it. I'm sure you'll have as much fun as I did!
