THE VAMPS NIGHT & DAY TOUR | GIG REVIEW

I'm sure you'll know that The Vamps are currently on their fifth UK arena tour - having kicked off in Sheffield on Saturday, the tour takes the lads pretty much all around the country. In true heyitsjodie fashion, I'm here to review the show as I actually attended the opening night of the tour in Sheffield, obviously.

First things first: support acts. There are actually four support acts on this tour, which is kind of a lot but, at the same time, it's quite normal for The Vamps to have a few supports - and it's not like they eat into the performance time of the headliners, either so it's totally fine with me.
The first support is a band called PM - who I'd actually not heard were going to be on the tour (fake fan, clearly); they were good, from what I heard of them - but, then again, we missed the first half of their lil set due to queuing at the arena et cetera.
The second support is HRVY. And, to be completely honest, as cringe as it may be - I'm kind of obsessed. He has some really great bops and is actually really great live - I think he's got a few new fans from my friends and I. And we're not complaining.
Okay so, the third support are New Hope Club. New Hope Club are great; they're always great and it's nice that we, as the audience, can watch them grow as artists and all that good stuff. It's always a good time when we see them live.
Finally, Jacob Sartorius is also supporting on this tour. And I know what you're thinking: what? Why?  So this is kind of (really) embarrassing to admit, but Jacob has some BOPS. My friends and I were just excited for a laugh and it was all a big joke that we were excited to see him but it appears as though we do actually *kind of* like him - but don't tell anyone, please.

Moving onto the stars of the show: The Vamps. I'm sure you will not be at all surprised when I say that they were incredible. The Vamps are a band that, no matter what, put on an insane show and you have the best time there. The energy and atmosphere is infectious and Brad Simpson, in particular, has a stage presence that's comparable to none - the boys love it, and that's clear to see.

The tour is entitled the 'Night and Day Tour' as The Vamps' third album is titled the same. But, if I'm being honest, the band didn't really perform that many songs from the album itself. And that's slightly disappointing because all I wanted was Shades On and Paper Hearts - but, with that being said, that tiny disappointment didn't impact the quality of the show one bit. It's always nice to hear some old songs that really boosted the career of the band and, if I'm honest, they could sing the same line of one song for an hour and a half and I'd probably still have a great time so I'm holding no grudges.

Here's the set list in full:

  • Staying Up
  • Last Night
  • Hands
  • Can We Dance
  • Middle Of The Night
  • Just My Type (NEW SONG)
  • Personal (with Maggie Lindemann)
  • Pretty Girl (with Maggie Lindemann)
  • Wild Heart
  • Hair Too Long (NEW SONG)
  • Medley - Friends / New Rules / Havana
  • Tristan's drum solo
  • Connor and James Acoustic (fan selected song)
  • Somebody To You
  • Cecilia
  • {encore}
  • Wake Up
  • Same To You
  • All Night

Just a quick note that this is the set list from the Sheffield date - the boys made some changes for the following dates and added extra songs (including Shades On).

Honestly, I'll be very surprised if anyone has actually stuck around to read this post because, let's face it: I can never be seriously objective in reviewing any Vamps gig. They're my favourites and I'm never disappointed with their performances - they're just great. I'm actually going to their London show on the 28th also so there will be another Vamps-themed blog post from that - most likely a GRWM kind of post so do be on the look out for that. In the mean time, if you have the opportunity to go to The Vamps' tour - TAKE IT. Go and have the best time, and thank me later.
