ARDELL MAGNETIC FALSE LASHES?! | REVIEW

I've never really gotten to grips with false eyelashes. I can apply them if I'm really desperate to do so but I just do not have the patience to wear them very often. In fact, it's probably once or twice a year that I actually do wear them. I just think they're such a faff to apply and chances are that I am either, a) running late anyway or, b) I try and put them on and get nowhere in the first minute or so and give up - there's that lack of patience I was talking about.

So, with that all being said, when I saw that Ardell had launched a range of magnetic false lashes, I was very intrigued to say the least and, of course, I had to pick up a pair. I chose the Double Demi Wispies  and purchased these from falseeyelashes.co.uk but I do believe you can buy the magnetic lashes from Boots and Amazon, amongst other retailers, also. The lashes retail at £13.99 and £14.99, depending on the retailer - I paid £14.99 for mine, and are said to be easy to apply with no adhesive needed and they are reusable so they sound great, right?!

So what did I think? To put it bluntly: disappointing. I think the idea behind the product is incredible and I so desperately wanted to like them but the application was so difficult. I just could not get the lashes to line up correctly with my eye. I initially thought that the problem would be getting the top lash to stick while I applied the bottom lash but it turns out that that was miraculously quite easy. The problem that I had was with the magnets in the lashes. The outer edges of the lashes magnetised fairly easily but the inner thirds did not - I think that this is probably to do with the fact that, from what I understand, there was a lack of magnets in the inner third compared to the outer. This makes it very difficult for the lashes to kind of attach to the curves of your natural eye / lashes. For me, at least, every time I managed to line it up properly the inner section would detach from the desired position so easy to apply? Not quite.

In terms of the appearance of the lashes, again, I was kind of disappointed. I knew that this style would be quite intense but I didn't think they would be so intense and thick - this is totally down to me, though because, obviously, it's personal preference and I'd just put it down to the style I ended up choosing.

For pricing, I don't think the lashes are too expensive - it's a fairly reasonable price to pay for something that's not necessarily that widely available and, if you can get on with the product, I'm sure it's definitely a worthwhile investment to make - after all, they are reusable so will probably last a fair amount of time.

Okay - overall thoughts. I'm kind of torn here because, I really desperately wanted to like these lashes but I just didn't. I think it's an amazing idea and could be so great but I just did not get on with these - I don't know if it was just because of the style I chose or if it's that I wouldn't get on with any of the styles, I'm not sure. I would really like to try the accent versions of these lashes because, assumably, there wouldn't be the issue of the inner thirds of the lashes being non-magnetic, if that makes sense. It's a tricky one because, from my experience, I wouldn't recommend these particular lashes but it may be worth a try if you perhaps can generally apply lashes quite easily or maybe you're just as intrigued as I was - I'm definitely going to give the accents a go at some point.
