HOLIDAY ESSENTIALS 2017

Hello my lovelies, and welcome back to a brand new blog post from me. As you may know, I have been slacking on my blogging lately due to exams but, fortunately, my exams are now over and I have all Summer to focus on my blog and ensuring that the content I'm putting out is always top notch. Today's post is the very first post in my holiday series for 2017 and it is dedicated to my holiday essentials. This is everything that I think is necessary when packing for a summer holiday or getaway and is focused around a holiday abroad - though I'm not including make up as I do have a beauty themed holiday post coming very soon.

My first holiday essential is probably the most important and, even though it is technically a beauty product, I'm making an exception. Sun cream (and aftersun). It's so incredibly important to protect your skin, especially when you're on holiday in a hot country and I think the rest is pretty self-explanatory. All I'm saying is that some form of sun cream is a necessity and you should not get on that plane without some - actually, make that you shouldn't leave home without some because the sun can be just as damaging in the UK.

The second of my holiday essentials is a good book. I'm pretty sure this comes up in every essentials post I write but, as you may already know if you've read my previous holiday essentials posts, I have been known to read an unusually large amount of books on holiday. This year, however, I am limiting myself to just one (and perhaps a magazine, too) so I will be taking The Heiresses by Sara Shepard on my travels with me.

One essential that is perhaps the most absurd in this post is a denim jacket. I'm sure you appreciate the goodness of a good denim jacket - they are so versatile and never off-trend, but why would you need a denim jacket on holiday? It's not that I need my denim jacket on my holiday as such but more so when travelling. If you've been abroad via plane, you'll know that it does tend to get a little chilly up in the air and, especially on the return trip, it's important to be prepared for the potential coldness when landing - after all, the British weather is extremely unpredictable.

Next up is something that I think is a given when talking about a summer holiday - a good pair of sunglasses. I mean, do you know anyone that wouldn't consider sunglasses an essential? Nope, neither do I. Mine are from Quay Australia and are from the Shay Mitchell collection.

Denim shorts are an absolute necessity for me when I go on holiday. They are an item of clothing that is timeless and so versatile and that's what makes them perfect for holiday style. I recently had to replace my go-to pair of denim shorts and, despite trawling various shops and websites, I managed to find a pair that are even better than my last pair - they're from Pull & Bear and are so incredibly comfortable and look great, too.

Probably the most random essential of mine is a packet of sweets. I love having some sweets for the plane when I go on my travels and I do tend to always go for my favourites - Percy Pigs. If you're like me, and you hate your ears popping during take-off, you need some sweets or something to chew on.

Finally, great music is also an essential for me. I always love to make a holiday playlist as it's something that will always remind you of your holiday. I'm going to (hopefully) be writing a blog post all about my holiday playlist for 2017 so you'll just have to wait and see what bops we have on there!

Are you jet-setting this year? If so, let me know where you're off to, and if not, what are you doing over the Summer? Thank you for reading this post, and thank you for being so patient with me over the past few months while I completed my A levels. I really appreciate it. XO
