♡ Coldplay - Wembley Stadium (18/06/2016) Gig Review ♡

If you follow me on my social media (i.e Instagram and Twitter), you may know that last weekend I went to London for the weekend - specifically for the Coldplay show at Wembley Stadium, that I miraculously managed to get tickets for. For as long as I can remember, my Mum has loved Coldplay and has always wanted to see them live so, when they announced their A Head Full Of Dreams tour back in November, my Dad and I decided we would try to get tickets for her for her birthday present - and, luckily, we managed to do so.

I've never been a huge fan of Coldplay - yes, I liked their music but wouldn't generally say 'OMG Coldplay are my favourite band! I love them!' but, honestly, the show was incredible. Chris Martin and co. definitely know how to put on an amazing performance. They know how to work the crowd, they know how to make sure both they themselves and the audience have an incredible time. The entire show was mesmerizing and the energy and atmosphere was absolutely electric - it was great.

I was shocked about the wide range of ages and types of people there were in the audience. I think I expected to see more adults around the age of say 30-ish, but there were people younger than me, my age, older than me, older citizens and people with their parents. It was so lovely to see how one band and their music can bring such a diverse range of people together and united all because of music. Every single person in that audience was singing and dancing and generally having such a great time and it's so amazing to me that bands can do that to people.

As you walked into the venue, there were staff handing out wristbands which we were instructed to put on our wrists and told that they would light up automatically during the show - and they did. It was such an exciting and thrilling concept and idea to have wristbands that lit up and flashed according to the beat of the music and changed colour according to the colours of the stage lighting. The entire concept was so amazing and it was honestly such an original idea, and the fact that you could keep the wristbands (although, we were offered the option to recycle them) made it even more memorable.

The set list was also really great. I can one hundred percent, hand on my heart say that every single song performed on that set list was performed with the band giving it their all. The set list was, I felt, such a lovely mix of songs from different albums etc. and it was so enjoyable.

Set List:

  1. A Head Full of Dreams
  2. Yellow
  3. Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall
  4. The Scientist
  5. Birds
  6. Paradise
  7. Always In My Head
  8. Princess of China
  9. Everglow
  10. Raspberry Beret (Prince cover)
  11. Clocks
  12. Midnight
  13. Charlie Brown
  14. Hymn for the Weekend
  15. Fix You
  16. Heroes (David Bowie cover)
  17. Viva La Vida
  18. Adventure of a Lifetime
  19. Don't Panic
  20. Green Eyes
  21. Amazing Day
  22. A Sky Full of Stars
  23. Up & Up
I'm not sure what I wanted to get out of this post, apart from expressing how phenomenal the show was and how good Coldplay are as musicians and as performers - their stage presence is so incredibly good and they always put on an amazing show. In fact, the only complaint I have about the event is that they didn't play Violet Hill (which is a great song). All in all, I would one hundred percent recommend seeing Coldplay live if you ever, ever have the opportunity to do so because, even if you aren't a massive fan, you will have the best time and it'll definitely be an experience that you won't forget. Even I can't stop listening to their music now! I constantly have Princess of China, Charlie Brown, Every Teardrop is a Waterfall, A Sky Full of Stars, Yellow and A Head Full of Dreams on repeat (obviously, amongst other Coldplay songs)!
