Gig Review | Imagine Dragons

Hello everybody and, once again, welcome back to my blog. Today I really wanted to write a post that's completely new and different to my usual posts - I'm doing a gig review. I recently went to Imagine Dragons' Smoke + Mirrors tour (I went to the Nottingham show on November 6th) and thought it would be super fun to do a quick lil gig review for you guys. As you may already know, Imagine Dragons are one of my favourite bands - and they have been one of my favourite bands since early 2013 so when they announced a tour back at the beginning of the year, I was thrilled

Firstly, the support act were a band called Sunset Sons and they were amazing. Unfortunately, due to traffic (typical), we actually missed the first bit of their set but the bit we managed to see was super great. My friend Sophie and I were both like 'OMG these guys are amazing' pretty much as soon as we walked into the arena. They were super entertaining and I actually don't think they could've picked a better opening act for Imagine Dragons. I came straight home and added all of their songs to my Spotify playlist and, I'm not going to lie, I've had them on repeat ever since. A personal favourite song of mine is 'Remember' and I definitely recommend checking Sunset Sons out if you haven't already.

Okay, now onto the stars of the show (literally). As you may have guessed, I'd been excited for the tour for months and I had super high expectations for the show. Let me just tell you: they did not disappoint. Imagine Dragons were absolutely and completely incredible and I had the best time. They have such an amazing stage presence (quite similar to Brad Simpson of The Vamps' stage presence, if that gives you an idea) and they managed to get everyone involved. The staging and general set up of the show was so well organised and set up (obviously) and it definitely supported the name of the tour - Smoke and Mirrors. I mean, seriously, there was smoke coming out of the stage at the beginning and huge mirrors and screens everywhere - it was amazing. The performance and musical side of the show was phenomenal and they are such a talented band (as if we didn't know already) - I'll write the set list a little later on in the post. I also love how they had some really eye opening things to say about the refugee crisis and I honestly think that it really was quite influential and I think that it's really lovely of them to have released a song in aid of the refugee crisis. It's called I Was Me and you can download it by clicking here. I believe that all the proceeds from the song go to helping the refugee crisis so it's a great cause - and, of course, it's a great song too.

Overall, the concert was unbelievably good. In fact, I think I love Imagine Dragons even more now - if that's possible?! If you ever get the chance to see them live, please do take the opportunity because I don't think I've been to a concert as good as that before. Imagine Dragons are such incredible performers and entertainers and I feel super privileged that I've seen them live. The only disappointing thing was that they didn't play Friction, which is my favourite song from their Smoke + Mirrors album. So yes, I had the best night and I would definitely recommend going to see them live - I just hope they come back to the UK soon.
